Wednesday’s Watch -Grave Memory

June 27, 2012 by unwasted words

Kalayna Price’s Grave Memory comes out in less than a week and you can be sure I will be in my favorite book pushing venues searching for an errant early release this weekend. These books are not for the faint of heart. They are heavy and complex, rich in world building and multiple story lines. But oh so satisfying. I’m hoping there will be more focus on Death and his friends in this installment and Alex’s extended fairy family. I […]

The Golden Lily Giveaway Winners

June 27, 2012 by unwasted words

Thanks to everyone who entered and bared with all the technical issues. The response was so overwhelming it crashed the page. Which means I will have to do another giveaway for The Indigo Spell next year. Congratulations to Heather and Katrina who won a copy of The Golden Lily.

Wednesday’s Watch -The Mark Of Athena

June 20, 2012 by unwasted words

October seems like FOREVER when waiting for the installment of The Heroes of Olympus series. The Mark Of Athena will finally merge the powerhouse demigods from both camps as they begin their journey to Greece. I can’t wait to see how Percy and Jason get along as well as what Annabeth is going to do that could jeopardize the quest. Rick Riordan is such an efficient writer, there’s practically no filler, and any threads he plants will be used. I love […]

Book of the Week!!! 06/19-06/25

June 19, 2012 by unwasted words

I love a good dystopian romance, so it’s not a surprise that Legend blew me away. It has a little bit of everything. If you like YA romance read this. If you like repressed rigid dystopian societies, then this one is for you. Looking for a little Robin Hood rebel action, with a West Side Story / Romeo & Juliet forbidden love then look no further. Legend is a great book with mass appeal. Whatever your favorite thing about a story […]

Monday’s Musings -What’s New in the World of Sequels

June 18, 2012 by unwasted words

I found some newly released covers and a little Bloodlines news this week. There’s a lot happening in the YA world of sequels! Checkout these newly released covers from some popular series spanning urban fantasy, dystopian, horror, and paranormal romance, lending a little eye candy no matter what your flavor of choice. Jennifer Estep posted the new cover of Mythos Academy book #4 on goodreads. Crimson Frost is sporting a different model, not as pretty as the last one but […]

Thursday’s Thoughts -Audio Annoyances

June 14, 2012 by unwasted words

Anyone familiar with my blog knows about my fondness for my listening library. While I am a self professed biblio-audiofile addict of little repent, I have to confess to being a bit of an audio snob. Having studied audio engineering before majoring in design only adds to my annoyance of horribly produced recordings. Things like bad productions, plosives, horrible acting really stand out in an audiobook because there’s nothing but the narrator and the story. I know, I know I go […]

The Golden Lily Giveaway

June 13, 2012 by unwasted words

Enter to win a print or audio edition of The Golden Lily by Richelle Mead! Have to admit, I’ve been impatiently waiting for this one. I absolutely adored Bloodlines. It was in heavy rotation on my player all last fall. The voice of VA Emily Shaffer, continues her roles in the spinoff and really makes Sidney lovable. I can’t wait to listen to The Golden Lily, if you feel the same then enter below and you just might win a […]

Wednesday’s Watch -The Reckoning

June 13, 2012 by unwasted words

What a gorgeous cover. Now I have to know what’s inside. The description and cover really got me interested in the series. I haven’t read The Taker yet, it never looked like a book I would want to read. Mostly because while The Taker‘s cover is lovely it never screamed, “SUPERNATURAL STORY HERE!” and it didn’t prompt me to learn more like The Reckoning‘s cover has. So score one for the cover designer and a striking shelve image. Here’s the […]

Book of the Week!!! 06/11-06/16

June 12, 2012 by unwasted words

I actually started reading Dorie Basarab book 1 around the time that I had begun listening to the audiobooks for the Cassie Palmer series and had no idea at the start that they were from the same author. Fans of vamps and dhampirs should add this one to their wish lists simply to experience Chance’s unique take on the genre. Anyone who might have had a hard time following Cassie’s time traveling hijinx will find Midnight’s Daughter more to their […]
