Me Before You Book Club Kit & Winner

January 7, 2013 by unwasted words

First off, Yay for Sharon who won the copy of Me Before You! Penguin also has a great book club kit with recipes, playlist, discussion questions, an interview with Jojo Moyes, and her tour dates! I’ve posted the tour dates and author interview below. You can view or download a copy here. Tell us a little about where your ideas for your characters and their stories come from? They come from all over the place. It’s often a snippet of […]

Book of the Week!!! 11/27-12/03

November 27, 2012 by unwasted words

I really can’t get enough of this series. But I pretty much love most anything Richelle Mead puts out. I know a lot of people don’t really like Sage but I think Sid is a refreshing voice in YA and a total departure from Mead’s other heroines. I definitely recommend the audiobook for anyone struggling to find a reason to like Sidney. Emily Shaffer has a knack for bringing all the quirks and endearing qualities of Sidney through her performance. […]

Monday’s Musings -E-Book Settlement

October 15, 2012 by unwasted words

So we’ve all griped about the price of e-books at some point in the past. It’s the nature of the product, after you get past the cost of formatting the thing it’s pure profit. There’s no printing or shipping costs. I know there are a lot of other expenses that go into publishing a book but the mark up ratio between some e-books and their paper counterparts can be crazy. And it seems the judicial system agrees. Some of you, […]

Wednesday’s Watch -The Crimson Crown

October 10, 2012 by unwasted words

I don’t even care if a book is considered middle grade when it’s as good as The Seven Realms Series. If high fantasy is your thing don’t let the placement of this book sway you since some stores will have it shelved with the teens while others in the children’s section. I think the characters, intricate story lines, and writing are YA, but entertaining enough for the YA at heart population. I equally lover her urban fantasy series The Heir Chronicles, which […]

Book of the Week!!! 10/09-10/15

October 9, 2012 by unwasted words

Fury’s Kiss was a monster. Aside from having a hefty page count for a mass market paperback, each page was a joy to read. It felt like Chance was trying to make up for lost time by taking her time with the story lines. I love where the plot and Dory’s character are going, I just wish I knew how long I’m going to have to wait for the next one. If you haven’t fallen for this series then pick […]

Monday’s Musings -Wish I’d Thought Of That

October 8, 2012 by unwasted words

Sorry I don’t really have time to write something today so I thought I’d let others do the writing for me. Here are a few posts, or features I wish I had here and regularly frequent. Authors Behaving Badly -is a regular feature on Pocketful Of Books. Anna is up to number 13 in her series and is really thorough in siting her sources. Second Lunch -This whole website is hilarious. getsecondlunch.com is an illustrative blog post narrative of everyday things. Also great for fans of […]

Wednesday’s Watch -Into The Woods

October 3, 2012 by unwasted words

The Hollows is my favorite adult series. You can bet by Tuesday morning I will have already downloaded and listened to a good chunk of that book. I love Kim Harrison’s world filled with killer tomatoes and an outed supernatural population. While I love this series I’m not a big novella and anthology reader. I read freebies sometimes but I’ve fallen hard for the audiobook version of Harrison’s books, and I’m more likely to get a compilation of shorts from […]

Book of the Week!!! 10/02-10/08

October 2, 2012 by unwasted words

Sophie Jordan does it again with grace and honesty in the absolutely breath taking Hidden. Jacinda finale displays everything we love about her character and the series. She’s brave and passionate fighting for what she believes in and the people she loves. The story is so good you just don’t want it to end. But I have hope that Hidden won’t be the last story set in the Firelight world filled with drakis Sophie Jordan will every write. My fingers crossed, […]
