Book of the Week!!! 09/25-10/01

September 25, 2012 by unwasted words

I wanted to devote myself to Incarnation, be fully immersed in the world and characters but my life was getting in the way. Maybe some of you can give this book the constant attention it so deserves and not take almost two weeks to read it like me. Emma Cornwall delivers a uniquely inspired story based on Arthurian legend and Dracula. If her concept isn’t enticing enough the book is written beautifully, with wonderful world building and characters, add in […]

Friday’s First Listen -Fourth Grave Beneath My Feet

September 21, 2012 by unwasted words

BY Darynda Jones NARRATOR Lorelei King LENGTH 9.5 hours PUBLISHER Macmillan Audio RELEASE 10/30/12 Part of the reason for the blog’s new look was to be able to start a new line of posts dedicated to audiobooks. Friday’s First Listen is like Wednesday’s Watch with sound! It’s a new feature I’m really excited about and am working hard to get more clips to share with everyone. The lovely people at Macmillan Audio were nice enough to provide me with this clip for Darynda Jones’ Fourth Grave Beneath My Feet, out […]

Book of the Week!!! 09/18-09/24

September 18, 2012 by unwasted words

This book blew me away. It started out with a bang and continued full throttled with action and intrigue. Loved Jessica and the lore of the lone female wolf. Amanda Carlson’s world building and story lines were truly engaging keeping the reader interested until the very last page. Fans of Rachel Vincent’s Shifters series will find Full Blooded the book to fill the void left after Alpha. Very impressive debut, seriously wished the next one was out now!  Get a […]

Book of the Week!!! 08/28-09/03

August 28, 2012 by unwasted words

With one of the most striking covers to ever hit the shelves, how can you not want to pick this up and see what it’s about? The only thing more eye catching than the cover is the title, My Life As A White Trash Zombie. If Diana Rowland wanted to make a statement, she definitely got my attention. The book itself is a little slower than I normally like but the ideas and concept were wonderful. If a slower paced […]

Book of the Week!!! 04/23-04/30

April 23, 2012 by unwasted words

I picked up this book on a whim, and loved it. Whenever I’m in the mood for witches, I can’t seem to find anything good to read. Grave Witch was a nice mixture of more traditional witch craft and necromancy. Price complimented her unique world building with intricate well executed story lines. She also focuses more on the story than a big romance, though there is a pretty dynamic love triangle brewing, but after two  books nothing much on that front has […]

Wednesday’s Watch -Infamous

March 7, 2012 by unwasted words

So I have to admit, I haven’t read the parent books that spawned this YA series. And honestly after reading some of the reviews from the other Chronicles of Nick books, I’m not sure I want to. At least not yet. I don’t want the adult books to ruin the love I have for Nick right now. Maybe after the series has run it’s course I’ll work my way through how everything began. Infinity and Invincible are a lot of […]

Wednesday’s Watch -Tricked

February 22, 2012 by unwasted words

Ok, so I might be in love with Kevin Hearne. He’s kind of like the human equivalent of Big Bang Theory geekiness meets Castle, only sadly I imagine his muse as Oberon. Clearly the dog is the best choice since he’s loyal and well Atticus’s leading ladies are a brood of german witches, a very butch kick-ass fae huntress, a dominatrix Morrigan, an ornery old irish lass, and an apprentice he can’t quite make a move on.  I think Atticus’s […]

The Value of Reviews

February 6, 2012 by unwasted words

While some people are just out to be nasty, I believe most reviewers are just voicing their experiences in a fair, informative, and entertaining way. As a consumer I rely on reviews to fill in the blanks of vague summaries or to give me a honest alternative perspective. Those things in mind, I write my own reviews to fit what I have found helpful, broad non-spoiler summary, positive/negative assessment. But not all my notes are just for consumers, I try […]
