Wednesday’s Watch -The Fiery Heart

February 16, 2013 by unwasted words

On November 12, 2012 Richelle Mead announced that it was her birthday and gave us a present when she posted this: Bloodlines #4 is called The Fiery Heart. This’ll make a lot more sense when you read Indigo, which I’m starting to get super impatient for. Come on, February! Lots of big things happen in Indigo, and you romance fans are going to pass out. You know what also might make you pass out? This: The Fiery Heart is going to be […]

Book of the Week!!! REDUX 02/12-02/18

February 12, 2013 by unwasted words

In honor of everyone’s love of Richelle Mead’s current YA series, I’m bringing this one back. Personally, I adore Bloodlines. Which is why, when I started this blog around the time this spinoff debuted, it had to be my very first Book of the Week. The audiobook of Bloodlines was in heavy rotation on my iPod for months. Plus who doesn’t love Mead’s unique take on witches and vampires, her rakishly complex leading man and Election-esque Type-A heroine, who manages to […]

Friday’s First Listen -Etiquette & Espionage

February 8, 2013 by unwasted words

BY Gail Carriger NARRATOR Moira Quirk LENGTH 08 hours 55 mins PUBLISHER Hachette Audio RELEASE 02/05/13 I just finished listening to Etiquette & Espionage and loved it! Carriger mixes some of my favorite elements together, the whole historical/period/steampunk aspect, boarding school setting, supernaturals, and espionage with a unique twist. Moira Quirk voiced a splendid narration. I especially liked her performance of Bunson’s alarm. The lovely folks at Hachette Audio provided a nice clip for us, and I also included the book trailer below the summary section. Enjoy! Summary It’s one […]

Book of the Week!!! 11/27-12/03

November 27, 2012 by unwasted words

I really can’t get enough of this series. But I pretty much love most anything Richelle Mead puts out. I know a lot of people don’t really like Sage but I think Sid is a refreshing voice in YA and a total departure from Mead’s other heroines. I definitely recommend the audiobook for anyone struggling to find a reason to like Sidney. Emily Shaffer has a knack for bringing all the quirks and endearing qualities of Sidney through her performance. […]

Violet continues on her journey as a newly embraced Grigori, with a few new friends, teachers, and challenges in Entice. But all is not paradise for Eden, she’s learning the hard way that every choice has repercussions. Book of the Week!!! 08/28-09/03

August 28, 2012 by unwasted words

With one of the most striking covers to ever hit the shelves, how can you not want to pick this up and see what it’s about? The only thing more eye catching than the cover is the title, My Life As A White Trash Zombie. If Diana Rowland wanted to make a statement, she definitely got my attention. The book itself is a little slower than I normally like but the ideas and concept were wonderful. If a slower paced […]

Biting Breakthrough

August 22, 2012 by unwasted words

Biting Cold by Chloe Neill read by Sophie Eastlake Neill’s latest installment of her Chicagoland Vampires series wastes no time picking up where Drink Deep left off. Fans of Merit and her supporting sups will have a little vindication for sticking through the series regardless of it’s ups and downs. I wouldn’t say Biting Cold has that instant gratification factor. Readers looking for an early romantic reunion will be left wanting. Ethan and Merit seem right back to square one. […]

Book of the Week!!! 08/14-08/20

August 14, 2012 by unwasted words

Insignia was a real surprise for me. The cover’s ok and made me hesitate but the summary was interesting, plus I wanted to get an audiobook and well nothing else was really speaking to me. Turns out Insignia was really easy to get lost in. S.J. Kincaid creates a richly layered book full of wonderful characters, great dialogue and an enthralling world. Kincaid’s debut is one of my favorites of the summer. This is a great read for anyone with […]
