Monday’s Musings -Movie Castings CoB

October 1, 2012 by unwasted words

Casting news may or may not be a disappointment for you my fellow purest so here’s the next installment of a rundown for a few of our favorite book adaptations scheduled for a 2013 release. The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones Anyone unhappy with the core cast (like me) won’t be thrilled with the rest. What’s glaringly apparent is that the jobless situation in the US isn’t limited to everyday work. Yes the casting directors of CoB don’t seem to like casting […]

Monday’s Musings -Red Light Good, Green Light Bad

June 4, 2012 by unwasted words

We all fear the dreaded book to movie adaptation. There has been a lot of chatter about the on again off again relationship between City of Bones and Hollywood. Honestly for me the possible shelving of this project by the current filmmakers was not a bad thing. This is partially due to the casting. I despise the casting so far for either of the lead characters and am very disappointed in the whole Twilight strategy in finding a male lead. […]

Wednesday’s Watch -The Dark Artifices

May 9, 2012 by unwasted words

Continuing the Cassandra Clare theme this week, I found this link a few days ago while doing some research on City of Lost Souls, about a new series by our favorite shadowhunter author. The first book is untitled at this point but the series is entitled The Dark Artifices. Here’s a few key snippets from the press release: Cassandra Clare, award-winning #1 New York Times bestselling author of The Mortal Instruments and The Infernal Devices series, has signed an agreement with Margaret K. McElderry Books, […]

Book of the Week!!! 05/07-05/14

May 7, 2012 by unwasted words

Am I the only one who wishes she was a Shadowhunter? Cassandra Clare manages to combine all my favorite supernatural species with a pretty cool world. City of Bones is one of my favorite YA books and not just because of the characters and story lines, but because of the lingo. Clare did what few authors are able to create, a literary language that crosses over to pop culture. Mundanes and Downworlders alike can agree that a turn of phrase […]

What a Spanish Soap Opera would be like if Jane Austen were Writing the Screenplay

December 12, 2011 by unwasted words

Clockwork Prince by Cassandra Clare read by Ed Westwick and Heather Lind Victorian Era London was never so chastely sinful until Cassandra Clare penned her Prince. London is burning with betrayal, passion, intrigue, secrets, and lies, all layout in an action packed carefully laid plot to unhinge our beloved shadowhunters with these Infernal Devices. Benedict Lightwood is a good ole boy dressed up in english finery. He’s making things difficult for Charlotte, contesting her position as head of the institute […]
